As both partial nudity and body modification were highly frowned upon in Victorian society, the photo above would represent the epitome of social unacceptability. So horrific was this combination to the upper classes in 1800s London that mention of “tattooed boobs” was made a portmanteau, giving us the term “Taboo”.
