WHY DOES THIS NOT HAVE MORE NOTES? DON’T PEOPLE REALISE HOW PRECIOUS TIGERS ARE? DO THEY NOT CARE WHAT HAPPENS TO THEM?

I’m glad this is getting nice circulation but it’s sad people only care when it’s an animal they love.

Is this true?!?!?

Dried beans and dark leafy greens are ESPECIALLY good sources of iron, even better on a per calorie basis than meat. The best way to increase absorption is by eating foods containing vitamin C along with foods containing iron.
Many vegetables such as broccoli and bok choy, which are high in iron are also high in vitamin C so the iron in these vegetables are very well absorbed. Commonly eaten combinations, such as beans and tomato sauce or stir-fried tofu and broccoli, also result in generous levels of iron absorption.

People often think that vegetables are poor in iron and protein when really they aren’t. Iron is ubiquitous in biological systems. In some cases, it’s found coordinated to certain amino acids which are the building blocks of proteins.

project for class about islands/isolation during social eating times~
Most restaurants refuse to have options for people with dietary needs; it’s nice to spend time out with family, but it sucks paying 5 dollars for a bowl of steamed, plain broccoli or salad without the dressing and leaving a restaurant hungry or bloated from eating a fucking ten gallon pail of spinach.  I would much rather stay home and cook for everyone. : m
(Pssst. Maybe I wouldn’t be ordering this stupid meal if not everything on your menu was deep-fried in the blood of tortured kittens in a batter made out of a bird’s vaginal discharge.)

Wow, way to be a hypocritical asshole. Don’t complain about waiters being snarky and people judging your life choices, and then turn around and put people down for wanting to eat/serve meat products at restaurants. Rude.

Enjoy your Tyson’s
Enjoy your Butterball
Enjoy your fur coat
Enjoy your dairy
And until very recently, THIS was the food supplier that you were eating from at McDonalds, In-N-Out, Jack in the Box, and Burger King.
Your life-style choices end as soon as animal abuse begins.
In America, a guy kills a dog and eats it, he gets charged with animal abuse and arrested.  When a man does it to a pig or a cow the whole nation rises up to his defense and he gets a pretty paycheck for it.
How dare I judge someone for investing in an industry that has been revealed, time and time again to be absolutely rife with cruelty, torture, and abuse? Fuck me, right?!

^ I don’t really think its nice to shove your eating habits/beliefs on other people, however a lot of meat eaters fail to notice that they’re just as preachy as vegans, but for the opposite side. Not only that, but the original message wasn’t even rude, it was just someone noting their disappointment that most menu’s in restaurants aren’t really vegan/vegetarian friendly. So yeah a good rule here is just don’t be a dick. Give people the respect you expect to be given, or you’ll get snarky, factual messages like the above!

glitterblood:

I should also add that I don’t hate vegans (or indie brands?) I’ve just spent my entire life getting yelled at because I can’t be vegan because dietary problems (fun fact: when I was six my mother forced me into vegetarianism for a month and I lost like ten pounds and had to go to the hospital and 75% of the hardcore vegans I meet tell me that that wasn’t valid and I should try it anyway and I just n o p e)

but I know some awesome ones too so

“as long as you aren’t a dick about it” still stands

Apparently its time for the talk again.

Meat Eaters tend to fail to see that it goes BOTH WAYS. Being a vegetarian, I’ve never once bitched at someone for not choosing to eat the way I do. Its a choice. I have my opinions and I keep them to myself because thats where my opinion belongs. I do not, nor have I EVER, shoved my beliefs down someones throat or criticized them for not eating the way I do. I cannot afford to be vegan, and I understand that some people cannot be vegan/vegetarian because of health problems. These are valid reasons.

But people need to stop acting as if vegans/vegetarians are preachy assholes. We’re not. Some of us are, its true, and I definitely blame PETA (an organization made of dicks) for this generalization. But just because you eat meat and don’t complain about vegetarians does not mean you’re above us, just as us not eating meat does not make us above you. I hate that a popular idea of vegans/vegetarians is that we’re preachy dicks when it isn’t even true! There are far too many meat eaters who are preachy dicks yet they get 0 attention because THEY EAT MEAT and they aren’t generalized the way we are.

It goes BOTH WAYS, people. I had a friend who was a meat eater and was constantly trying to pressure me into eating meat, and then would complain and try to guilt me when I didn’t. (“Aww but don’t you miss eating meat with meee?”) No. I don’t. Shut up.

So how about everyone just agrees to not be a cunt?

opiatevampire:

…as a very passive, non-confrontational vegetarian of nearly 8 years, it’s very frustrating to see the weird vegan/non-vegan tumblr war going on.
Since I decided to become a vegetarian at 14 years old, I’ve been attacked for it by people who don’t know me or know anything about my beliefs. They hear vegetarian, and based on sweeping assumptions, begin insulting and harassing me. Even friends of mine find it funny to constantly chide and make jokes about my eating choices. Honestly, after a while it, gets annoying and even hurtful. I would completely understand if I did it in return- tit for tat. But I don’t. I’ve never told someone not to eat meat. I’ve never tried to make someone a vegetarian (people tend to assume I will try to do this to who I’m dating). I only mention my vegetarianism in relevant conversation.
Sure, we’ve all met some asshole vegans and vegetarians who are in your face about it. I dislike them as much as I dislike people who do that with religion or any other belief. But since this escalating in tumblr social justice, I’ve found even more crap slung my way.

For the record, I would eat an animal if I was starving. I’d probably eat you.

I’d like to add that it goes both ways - most people assume that vegans/vegetarians are assholes that will shove their habits/views down your throat but fail to recognize that meat eaters tend to do the same thing. I had a friend that was constantly ridiculing me for not eating meat and constantly trying to get me to eat meat with him and then guilting me when I didn’t.

Basically, a good rule of thumb is this: Don’t shove your habits down someones throat, it isn’t polite.
